IFRS 9 is effective from 1 January 2018, it introduces a more principles-based approach to the classification and measurement of financial assets on the basis of business model and nature of cash flows. The new impairment model requires more timely recognition, and ongoing assessment of credit losses.
This course provides a brief overview of IAS 39, and covers a detailed analysis of principles in IFRS 9. The workshop consist of many examples and illustrations to elaborate the business model and cash flow characteristics test for classification of financial assets, amortized cost and fair value measurement of financial assets and financial liabilities, de-recognition of financial assets and measurement of expected credit losses. It also covers the financial instruments disclosures in IFRS 7 and principles in relation to fair value measurement in IFRS 13.
Two day training to give participants closer look on the implications of IFRS 15 across the business. Offers a deeper appreciation of the five step revenue model and provide actual implementation challenges encountered in practice and how these are being dealt with.
IASB issued their long-awaited converged standard on revenue recognition. Almost all entities will be affected to some extent by the significant increase in required disclosures. But the changes extend beyond disclosures, and the effect on entities will vary depending on industry and current accounting practices. Entities will need to consider changes that might be necessary to information technology systems, processes, and internal controls to capture new data and address changes in financial reporting.
This training program provides deeper insights and practical tools to increase the participant’s understanding of the new requirements in IFRS 15. Learning is achieved via theory and examples from our experience advising companies on changes required in order to meet the IFRS 15 requirements.
The objective of this course is to facilitate an understanding of the principles and changes arising from the revised model of lease accounting for lessees and to illustrate the application of the requirements relating to lessee accounting.
The course will explain the principles and application of the requirements through decision flowcharts, clarifications of the basis of conclusions for critical changes and illustrative examples with hands-on exercises. It will also highlight major differences between the new standard and the outgoing standard IFRS 17 Leases.
