Are you a journalist or studying journalism at university?

The British Council in Georgia is pleased to announce bp funded free English Language Courses in General English for individuals working in local media (print, TV, radio, and online media sources) or those studying in an accredited journalism program at university.

Successful candidates will attend:
  • 90-hour General English Course for journalists either at our teaching centre in Tbilisi or online.
  • 30-hour MyJournalism sessions, which will address the journalists’ specific work-related tasks in English.

The package is valued at over 1,500 GEL per candidate but is provided for free by our sponsor, bp in Georgia. The courses will start from November 2024 and finish in November 2025.
Requirements:
  • Your level of English must be Intermediate to Advanced which will be determined by means of British Council placement tests and interviews.
  • You must be strongly motivated to commit to 4 - 6 hours of English a week and be willing to have full participation and commitment to the learning process. Participants who fall below the set minimum attendance level will be excluded from classes.
  • You must be committed to studying outside of the classroom.
  • You should have good interpersonal and communication skills

The selection process includes:
  • Shortlisting based on your CV and letters of motivation (max 100 words)
  • Writing and speaking placement tests.

  • CV in English
  • Motivation letter with a focus on commitment to the program participants in English, max 100 words.
  • Support letter from your employer indicating that the employer is happy to release you for the specified times and timeframe – can be either in English or Georgian.

The deadline for submission of applications is the 21st of October 2024, by 19:00. The number of places is limited.
